Preparing for Your Virtual Consultation
What to Expect
In your consultation, your trainer will discuss with you in detail about the behavior challenges you are facing with your dog. We will discuss your routine, training history, and goals. From there, I will begin to form a training plan tailored to your dog and your goals. I will introduce important training concepts that you’ll need to know before starting training. I will likely (but may not) have time to begin coaching you through training exercises with your dog.
What You Need
A computer, laptop, tablet, or smart phone (laptops and tablets preferred) with a camera.
A space to work with your dog.
An open space where you can point your camera.
A variety of high-value treats your dog loves - and lots of them.
Should be soft and cut up into small pieces.
Boiled chicken breast, hot dogs, cheese sticks, meatballs, etc.
A pen and paper (or word document) to take notes.
How to Prepare
If your consultation is near your dog’s regular mealtime, skip that meal.
If your consultation is a few hours from your dog’s regular mealtime, feed 1/4 or 1/2 of their meal.
Write down questions and concerns to bring up with your trainer.
Be prepared to describe the following in detail:
Your dog’s behavior concerns.
Your short- and long-term goals.
Specific incidents, if relevant.
You and your dog’s daily routine.
Make sure our video chat platform, Zoom, is updated and ready to use.
